Thank you for introducing me to Belden Lane. It's the best gift I've received this year. I know I will be reading and re-reading him for years. Hearing you speak about your honeysuckle fort, I was taken back to a deer stand perched up in an oak about a half-mile behind my house, through a pasture, a peach orchard then into the woods. These sacred places we had as kids (for those lucky enough to have had them) seem to me gateways to caring and not caring. Maybe the most complete and confident I've ever been is age ten, lying on my back in the deer stand, looking up through the leaves, wanting and needing nothing more than right then and there. Thank you for reminding me of that.
